Social Integration Centre «Learning to Live»

Centre of social integration «Learning to live» is opened on the basis of charity foundation «Giving Joy». Within the walls of the centre systematic activities on development of children with deprived childhood are orphaned children and teenagers, children deprived of parental care, children from multi-child or needy families, disabled children and children with defects of mental and physical development are carried out. Activities are based on the principles of participants’ equality. All activities are performed by professional teachers and psychologists and are totally free of charge.

We work with children and teenagers within 6-21 years old. There is only one main condition for participation in our programmes — wish of a child to learn and maturate. As at the beginning of the year 2015, 80 children take part in the programme.

The Goal

Our goal is effective social integration of children with deprived childhood.

* children with deprived childhood are orphaned children and teenagers, children deprived of parental care, children from multi-child or needy family, disabled children and children with defects of mental and physical development, children from family based care homes and foster families from 6 to 23 years old.

Working results of the centre «Learning to Live»

  • children prepare to the responsible adulthood. They know where and how to earn money. They understand how to plan their budget and are ready to main real-life situations certainly met on their path.
  • during education children are taught on the principles of goodness, mutual respect, responsibility and sense of purpose. They will take with them these main qualities to the following life.
  • there is a possibility for leavers of our centre to get a job at plants, factories and other entities after education.
  • children find a friend in the person of teachers and volunteers of the Centre. Friends who may guide, prompt and help. Such support is very effective as one of the main fears of such children is loneliness and fear of failure.
  • children’s denial from doubtful pastime, alcohol and drugs in favour of education, work and healthy lifestyle.
  • work in mixed groups with different social status and specific needs teach children tolerant attitude to people around them and mutual help.
